The good news (for me) was that the second drive in that machine had a full-drive backup of the primary drive less than a week old. Unfortunately this drive was not covered, because I had not purchased AppleCare for that machine. The third drive was an internal primary drive (on a G4 with two drives) less than two years old. When I open your file, being on Office365, I can see that the cells are of the Stock data type and I can see the field icon and pick the different attributes of the stock. You may have been able to set the format but you can not pick attributes from a field list. Two were firewire drives over 10 years old their deaths were not entirely unexpected, and I had backups of what had been on them. It suggests that these data types are not available on Excel 2019. In 25 years of owning Macs, most with multiple internal hard drives when possible, all with external hard drives, I've had a grand total of three drives fail. If your data is very critical and irreplaceable, make at least two backups, keeping one of them off-premises (this to guard against loss resulting from something like a catastrophic fire).

If you do not make backups of those documents, they're gone forever when a hard drive fails. However, if you do not make adequate and reasonably frequent backups, you can lose a significant amount of your manhours, meaning the time and effort that went into producing whatever documents you create with those programs.

You can always re-install software (OS and/or programs) onto a new hard drive, if necessary, from original disks. That said, never trust a hard drive - all hard drives will eventually fail.

If I had a hard drive that failed inside of 3 years, I would have it replaced under warranty provided that coverage was in effect. They are designed for frequent read/write operations - that's what they do, and are expected to do. Barring physical abuse or mistreatment by the user, it should be covered.
